Update:

On Friday, Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders made his NFL debut in their preseason game against the Carolina Panthers. Sanders, who’s been under intense scrutiny since before the NFL Draft in April, shone in his first game with 138 passing yards and two touchdowns in the 30-10 victory.

After the impressive debut game ended, a brief but surprising postgame exchange with longtime ESPN Cleveland reporter Tony Grossi quickly went viral.

Grossi explains what really happened with Shedeur Sanders

In a video posted by Deion Sanders Jr., Shedeur’s half-brother, Shedeur confronts Grossi with a smile, saying, “Tony, I be hoping you have something positive to say about me.” He playfully accuses the reporter of only focusing on the negative, asking, “What I do to you, Tony?” before walking off laughing.

Now, Grossi is sharing his side of the story. On his show, “The Daily Grossi”, he said he was caught off guard by the comments, especially since he had just praised Sanders’ performance. Grossi also revealed that he initiated the conversation and had no idea the moment was being recorded without his knowledge by Sanders’ brother, which was a bit upsetting to him.

Despite the awkwardness, Grossi emphasized that the interaction was good-natured, and the two have since moved on. He also made it clear that he was impressed with Sanders’ performance, saying, “I thought Shedeur was outstanding.”

The viral moment may have stirred headlines, but both sides appear to be taking it in stride.
