Update:

Travis Hunter is making waves as one of the NFL’s top draft prospects for the upcoming draft next month. The two-way player won the Heisman award for his dual role as a cornerback and wide receiver, both of which he played to an elite level.

Now, he’s determined to keep playing both positions in the big league, but whether or not an NFL team will allow that - at least to the quantity that Hunter wants it - is another story.

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce gave his input earlier this month, stating that Hunter will have to prove to his future team that he can handle playing the defensive and offensive positions full time.

“He’s gonna have to prove that he can do it. Nobody has ever played every single play on both sides,” said Kelce. “When Deion [Sanders] did it, he was in, like, nickel. He was in certain packages, I believe. … In the NFL, they’ll have to scheme up around him getting too exhausted. They really have to weigh that into their play-calling, both offensively and defensively."

Now, Hunter has given his response.

Travis Hunter’s response to Travis Kelce comments

Hunter excelled on both sides of the ball for the Colorado Buffaloes and he believes he can continue to do so in the NFL. While Kelce said he’s a big fan of Hunter’s, he thinks he’ll have to play one position full-time and come in and play the other in certain situations.

As for Hunter, he said he’s wiling and ready to prove himself, both to Kelce and everyone else in the NFL.

"Like he said, I have to prove that I can do it. So that’s my main thing‚" Hunter said, “Imma prove that I’m gonna do it and I can do it. So he’s not telling no lie. I still got to prove it. You know, I just can’t go to the league and they just, ‘Oh, here you go, Trav, you could do all this,’ and I don’t go out and show up how I’m supposed to show up.”

On offense, Hunter led the Big 12 Conference in both receptions (96) and touchdowns (15), while putting up 36 tackles, 11 blocked passes, and four sacks on defense. He’s the first player to ever win both the Bednarik Award (for best defensive player in college football) and the Biletnikoff Award (for top pass catcher in the nation) in the same season. Now, he’s determined to bring that same trailblazing attitude into the NFL and is expected to go in the top five in the NFL Draft on April 24.
