The Dallas Cowboys started the season with one of the top rated defenses in the NFL, but have suffered a significant blow in just the third week. According to the NFL Network report, cornerback Trevon Digss suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during practice on Thursday.

Diggs suffered the injury during a 1-on-1 drill and was briefly spotted by local media on crutches. Diggs then left the facility for an MRI which confirmed the damage to the knee.

Diggs, a Pro-Bowl selection in each of the last two seasons, signed a five-year, $97 million extension during training camp, which included a $21.25 million signing bonus and has $42.3 million of guaranteed money.

In the first two weeks of the 2023 season, Diggs has recorded four tackles, three passes defended, a forced fumble, and an interception.

This will come as a hammer blow to Cowboys fans, who will by now be familiar with the annual decimation of their squad by injury. Noah Igbinoghene, DaRon Bland, and Eric Scott Jr. will almost certainly be asked to step up to fill the void.
