Trevon Diggs update: Will Cowboys star return vs Lions on Thursday?
Trevon Diggs looks at a potential return as the Dallas Cowboys aim to extend their win streak against the playoff-chasing Detroit Lions on Thursday night.

The Dallas Cowboys are on a mission. Fresh off a 31-28 Thanksgiving win over the Kansas City Chiefs, they aim to carry momentum into Week 14 against the Detroit Lions. And as Dallas prepares for the pivotal NFC showdown, they’re also hoping for the return of star cornerback Trevon Diggs.
Diggs has been sidelined since October 12, dealing with a concussion and knee soreness. His absence was felt in the early part of the season, but since the trade deadline, the Cowboys’ defense has found a new rhythm, largely thanks to additions like Quinnen Williams and Logan Wilson. Still, a healthy Diggs would be a game-changer.

Trevon Diggs practicing, but will he play vs Lions?
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones offered a cautiously optimistic update this week, telling 105.3 The Fan, “If it goes and you can draw it up (the way you want), you could see him out there.” While that leaves room for interpretation, Diggs has been participating in practice and making steady progress.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer echoed the cautious optimism, emphasizing that Diggs must prove he’s ready in practice before officially being cleared to play. In Schottenheimer’s words, it’s simple: “You have to show us you’re back, ready, before you’re christened.”
Brian Schottenheimer said Trevon Diggs has looked good in practice. Will talk to medical staff and coaches before making a decision on status for Thursday. Said the ramp up portion is important in Diggs’ return.

There’s been some speculation about moving Diggs to safety, given some struggles earlier this season, but Schottenheimer shut that down bluntly: “I wouldn’t even think of that.”
The cornerback’s natural ball-hawking instincts, combined with the Cowboys’ now-stabilized secondary, make him a far better fit at his usual position. Plus, with a more aggressive man coverage scheme in place and key players like Malik Hooker, Donovan Wilson, Caelan Carson, Shavon Revel, and DaRon Bland returning, the defense is finally performing as intended.
The timing of Diggs’ potential return couldn’t be more critical. The Lions, at 7-5, are fighting for their playoff lives, while the Cowboys sit at 6-5-1 and are hoping to climb into the NFC playoff picture. Last year, Detroit humiliated Dallas 47-9, and Jones hasn’t forgotten.
“I can’t get that 40 points that they hung on us out of my mind, right here at home,” he admitted, adding extra motivation for his team.

If Diggs suits up, it will add both confidence and depth to a Cowboys secondary that has been one of the league’s most improved units in recent weeks. And with the Lions’ offense missing key contributors (potentially even Amon-Ra St. Brown), a healthy Trevon Diggs could tip the balance in a game with playoff implications.
