Trevor Lawrence carted off field, Aziz Al-Shaair ejected - what injury does the Jaguars QB have?
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence was hit hard and injured by Houston Texans linebacker Aziz Al-Shaair, who was ejected for the foul.
Just as the Jacksonville Jaguars got quarterback Trevor Lawrence back from injury, he went down with another during the second quarter of their game against the Houston Texans on Sunday.
Trevor Lawrence suffers brutal hit, out for rest of game vs Texans
Lawrence had been unable to play for the last two games for the Jaguars after dealing with a shoulder AC joint injury since Week 9. For a while, it looked like surgery might be necessary. In the end, he returned to face the Texans but quickly suffered a different injury.
After attempting to slide, Lawrence took a dirty hit from Texans linebacker Aziz Al-Shaair, who dove into Lawrence helmet-first as he was already on his way to the ground.
Lawrence was carted off the field but was able to sit up. Jaguars tight end Evan Engram shoved Al-Shaair in the back after the hit on Lawrence, sparking a brawl between the two teams that ended with Al-Shaair and Jaguars cornerback Jarrian Jones being ejected and Engram given a Personal Foul.
As Al-Shaair was escorted off the field, he and Jaguars guard Brandon Scherff exchangeed words and Al-Schaair ripped off his helmet to try to attack Scherff, but was held back by Texans teammates Henry To‘oTo’o and Joe Mixon.
It was confirmed that Lawrence suffered a concussion and will not return to the game against the Texans, but he was not taken to a hospital. With Lawrence out, former first-round pick Mac Jones will take over at quarterback.
