The Miami Dolphins have a new look heading into the 2022 NFL season with the additions of wide receiver Tyreek Hill and head coach Mike McDaniel. Both the reciever and play caller have publicly supported Tua Tagovailoa and the quarterback appreciates it.

At a press conference on the first day of the training camp, Tagovailoa was thankful of the support he received from his new target and justified Hill’s statements through his personality.

“Tyreek’s going to speak how he feels at that very moment,” Tagovailoa said. “And he just believes what he says every time. If he feels he’s the best at this, he’s going to let you know. Out there on the field, if he feels someone’s talking too much and he wants to go against them, he’s going to let them know what he’s going to do to them. That’s just his personality. I think it’s fun to have that kind of personality on the team. But for me, again, it’s awesome to have that kind of support from somebody like that.”

Head coach support

Head coach Mike McDaniel reiterated his support for Tagovailoa during the same conference, saying he appreciates Hill's confidence in his new quarterback's ability.

I think as a coach you really appreciate that people believe in each other. One thing I didn't know before I met him [Hill] is that he's one of the most competitive players I've ever seen and that's something that makes him who he is. If Tyreek is saying it, it's because he believes it,” McDaniel said.

Likewise, the head coach assured that the quarterback position is one of the most complicated and therefore he expects Tagovailoa to push himself in camp and prior to the regular season.

“The quarterback job is exhausting in terms of having to know a lot of things. He figured it out in the OTAs and he’s worked it out in the offseason. So what I want is that short-term memory that he can work on in training camp so he becomes the leader of our team”, explained the freshman HC.
