Vikings 13 vs 23 Titans summary, stats, scores and highlights | NFL Preseason
Cam Ward only played two series but he had his best performance of the preseason in the Tennessee Titans final tune up against the Minnesota Vikings.

The Vikings didn't play any of their starters. Instead Max Brosmer and Brett Rypien battled it out for what might be the final QB spot on the roster. Rypien threw this pick in the end zone and went 7/14 for 62 yards while Brosmer went 15/23 for 161 and a TD.
Brandon Allen came into the game after Ward and he continued his impressive preseason. He went 9/15 for 137 yards, most of those coming on this catch and run from Van Johnson.
Chestnut punched the opening TD of the game in from a yard out and that was the last play of Ward's night. He went 3/4 for 36 yards and looked more poised in the pocket tonight. This was the last taste of a game situation until the Titans play the Denver Broncos in Week 1.
Cam Ward and the Tennessee Titans made their home debut on Friday night and the rookie QB had his best outing of the preseason. He didn't play much but he commanded the offense especially in the second of his two drives. After going three and out Ward marched the Titans down the field on a 13 play drive which was extended by Julius Chestnut's fourth down conversion.

MIN go for it and Brosmer goes deep for Flemming who makes the over the head catch, but after further discussions they are going to call that incomplete! Flemming couldn't secure before hitting the ground.

Brosmer flushed out of the pocket and he throws it away. A flag flies for holding on MIN but that was declined.

Rypien got hit on the throw and it fell for James Williaims for the red zone interception.
Brandon Allen came into the game and he connected with Van Jefferson for the highlight play of the game. He took it 65 yards for the TD.
Ward didnt' throw the ball much in his two drives. He went 3/4 for 36 yards but Julius Chestnut went for 28 yards on five carries.
The Titans went 3 and out in their first drive but then built up a 13 play 90 yard drive in what was their best drive of the preseason. Chestnut extended it with this 4th and 1 conversion and then finished it a few plays later.

That was by far the best drive we have seen from the Titans this preseason. I was a 13 play, 90 yard drive that was ended by a Chestnut TD run. This 4th down conversion got them into position to put points on the board.

For all of those tuning in today to watch J.J. McCarthy, I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it doesn’t look like the second year rookie willl be playing. Apparently he got a heavy does of action during the week and he will be kept on the sideline for tonight’s game.

There is no need to wonder who to watch in the Titans’ final preseason game tonight from Nissan Stadium. The No. 1 pick of the 2025 NFL Draft has got a few series in the first couple games of the preseason, and tonight the rookie will get one more shot at a warm up before the real thing starts in a couple weeks. Cam Ward was 2/7 last game and in the game before he went 5/8 for 67 yards and led one TD drive. He knows he’s going to be the starter in Week 1
Titans practice scuffle
It’s not often you see a quarterback get involved in a dust up during preseason practice. It’s even more rare that a rookie quarterback gets mixed up in a scuffle, but that’s Cam Ward for you. He and Jeremy Simmons went at in on Monday’s practice after Ward threw a TD pass and got in the face of the defensive lineman. When asked about the fight, Ward handled it with class, maturity and with a certain sort of calm leadership that should comfort Titans fans who haven’t seen a franchise QB in a long, long time.
Last season Vikings
The Vikings had a remarkable season in which they looked like one of the best teams in the league for pretty much all season. Led by revived QB Sam Darnold who was reborn under coach Kevin O’Connell, and a great defense that was among the best in the NFL. They won their first five games of the season but then losses to the Lions and the Rams raised some doubt around the strength of this team. The Vikings responded winning their next nine games to set up a massive Week 18 match up against the Detroit Lions for the NFC North and the one seed in the conference. Sam Darnold struggled. The Vikings struggled and the Lions took the one seed. Minnesota had to settle for a Wild Card spot, and they were stunned by the LA Rams in another game in which Darnold struggled. The dream season ended in a nightmare, and now it’s time to put back the pieces and stay in the contender conversation in the NFC.
Last season Titans
Last season the Titans started their rebuilding process. They let their long time coach Mike Vrable go, and watched Derrick Henry head to Baltimore to join the Ravens in hopes of a Super Bowl run. That left new coach Brian Callahan with a depleted offense with no real quarterback to rely on. The defense was one of the better units in the league when it came to yards allowed per game, but that didn’t make up for the short comings on the offensive end. Tennessee ended the season with three wins and got the No. 1 pick in the Draft. Hello Cam Ward.
Last game Vikings
Minnesota didn’t play J.J. McCarthy and only anded it off to their running backs 13 times. The offense struggled to get the ball into the end zone all game, settling for four field goals in the 20-12 loss. Patriots QB Drake Maye played two series and led his team into the end zone on his second series. A second TD in the second quarter gave the Pats 14 points which would be enough to close out the Vikings as their defense carried them the rest of the way.
Last game Titans
The Titans put Cam Ward back under center to start the game against the Atlanta Falcons, but sat a couple of their veteran WRs. That made things a little tougher on the rookie quarterback who went 2/7 for 42 yards in three empty possessions to start the the game. Brandon Allen entered the game after Ward and had a great couple of quarters going 11/14 for 119 for 1 TD an 1 INT. The Falcons would battle back in the 3rd quarter, scoring 17 points to tie the game up at 20-20 heading into the 4th quarter. Trevor Siemian led a field goal drive to start the 4th quarter and that would be enough to seal the game for the Titans in Atlanta.
