Update:

It’s been a historic season for the Washington Commanders, making it to the NFC Championship game under rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels.

The Commanders have looked reborn since the arrival of head coach Dan Quinn last year and they have already upset the odds to record two road victories in the postseason. They saw off No. 1 NFC seed Detroit Lions last weekend with a stunning 45-31 win.

However there will be some repercussions from the victory. On Saturday, just one day before the Eagles clash, the NFL announced punishments to a Commanders star.

Linebacker Frankie Luvu has been hit with two fines, worth a total $33,766. The first $16,833 is for roughing the passer on a hit to Lions QB Jared Goff. The second, a result of an illegal hip-drop tackle on Jahmyr Gibbs. Neither incident was flagged by officials during the game but Luvu has not escaped punishment.

It’s not a small amount, but Luvu shouldn’t have any issue paying up. The linebacker signed a three-year contract worth $31 million last year. Luvu is thriving in head coach Dan Quinn’s system and he’s enjoying life in Washington.

“Everything that we’re doing right now, getting the defense right. Communication. Flying to the ball, tackling, hitting,” he explained.

“Just make sure our defensive football...me just being a wingman, just echoing his calls, making sure everybody’s aligned, make sure everybody get the checks and when they see that we just moving and set that as an example for the guys and that’s a huge reason why I came here too.”
