Watch Tyler Guyton take on Micah Parsons with ease

The Cowboys drafted offensive tackle Tyler Guyton in the first round of the 2024 Draft and he’s been the most-hyped player of Dallas’ offseason additions. After the fist week of training camp practices, Guyton has been out to prove he’s worth the hype.

Though the Cowboys have yet to have a padded practice, one defender is hard to stop with or without pads and that is one Micah Parsons. Guyton started training camp on the second-team offensive line and by Sunday, he’d been promoted to first-team left tackle, pitting him against Parsons in practice.

Parsons is the best edge rusher in the league, but that barely phased Guyton, who was able to hold his own on several occasions. Between his time at TCU and Oklahoma, Guyton played mostly at right tackle, where he allowed just two sacks. With Tyron Smith gone, Guyton’s got big shoes to fill at left tackle, a position which he played just twice in college. However, Guyton seems confident that making the move will be “pretty easy”.

“Just refining my technique, repetition over and over. Working on it so much that you can’t get it wrong,” said Guyton. “It’s just switching your footwork, your hands and your technique, and also fitting the plays in the run. I actually feel like I’m better at left tackle and I’m more comfortable over there anyway. The switch should be pretty easy.”

So far, so good. Guyton is showing a lot of promise in training camp. With Monday off, the Cowboys will have their first padded practice on Tuesday, where we’ll get to see more from the young rookie.
