For the second game this season, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb made headlines for a reaction he had to quarterback Dak Prescott during a game. During Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Prescott threw a pass in the direction of Lamb, but it was short and went right into traffic, ending up with a Steelers interception.

What did CeeDee really say to Dak after the interception?

After the interception, cameras caught Lamb saying something to Prescott that looked like harsh words, and Prescott just looked down and did not respond. The guesses were “Subpar throw”, “Some ball control, come on”, or “Jump balls four. Jump balls, I got you”.

This reaction comes after Lamb’s Week 3 outburst when the Cowboys lost to the Ravens. During that game, Lamb was seen slamming his hands on the ground in frustration as well as yelling at Prescott on the sidelines. After the game, he refused to speak to the media, but he later apologized for his reactions and set the record straight that his frustration was with himself, not with Dak.

“I kind of let the game get to my head a little bit,” Lamb said at the time.” But in the same sense, I know what I can do. I know what I bring to the table, and I know what I can do on that field. So, with that being said, going forward, there shall be a difference.”

And then Week 5 happened, and the difference didn’t seem to be there. Lamb didn’t seem to have the control over his frustration that he said he was going to try to have. As for what he said to Prescott after he threw the interception, Lamb played it down. He said that the “jump ball” response that lip readers guessed was the closest to what he actually said.

“Yeah, pretty much,” said Lamb. “The DB made a great play. We were on two different pages. I mean he got a gift.”

“I told him, perseverance, that’s all we need at QB,” Lamb went on. “He’s the epitome of that, everything he’s been able to overcome off the field and on the field.”

Of course, that’s certainly not the words it looked like Lamb was saying, but the two probably prefer to stay away from any added tension or drama. They’re still finding their rhythm this season and will have another shot this Sunday when they take on the Detroit Lions in hopes of finding their first home win of the season.
