Cowboys

What did Eagles OC Kellen Moore say about the sun at Cowboys' AT&T Stadium?

The sun has been the topic of conversation after the Eagles win over the Cowboys on Sunday, and even Kellen Moore had something to say about it.

Will Cowboys game be suspended after roof piece falls?

The sun was an issue yet again at AT&T Stadium when the Dallas Cowboys lost to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. The stadium, which faces east to west, is famous for its sun glares during afternoon games. There have been many instances where it‘s caused issues during games throughout the years since it was built.

The latest was on Sunday, when Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb missed a pass from quarterback Cooper Rush due to the sun shining right into his eyes. After the game, he was asked about the issue and said he would be glad to have curtains to block the sun. But when owner Jerry Jones was asked about it, he reacted like a child, suggesting we may as well “tear the damn stadium down”.

Jones insists that the sun is an advantage to the Cowboys because it‘s a disadvantage to their opponents. That‘s despite the many instances, which fans remember with much more clarity, the sun has caused the Cowboys players to make mistakes, something some might call...a disadvantage.

But alas, the problem won‘t be getting solved anytime soon as Jerry refuses to acknowledge it’s a problem at all.

Kellen Moore offers his 2 cents on sun issue at AT&T Stadium

The Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is no stranger to the Cowboys' stadium sun issue. He was a backup quarterback in Dallas from 2015-2017 and then quarterbacks coach (2018) and offensive coordinator (2019-2022), so he’s been around to deal with it too.

“Yeah, in general for everyone, yeah,” Moore said when asked if the sun was an issue. “For everyone. I’ve been there. I was there a long time, so...”

As far as calling plays, Moore said you had to know the stadium and call plays according to where the sun would be.

“Stadiums all have different circumstances,” Moore said. “That one, the sun plays a decent role, so you just have to call plays according to it, knowing certain parts of the field at times can be a little bit challenging. We had it in the first quarter, towards the end of the first quarter in the red zone. And then [in the] second quarter, we were going the other way.”

The Cowboys will play at home again in Week 11 against the Houston Texans on Monday, but this time it‘s a night game, so at least the sun won’t be an issue. The Cowboys, however, have much bigger problems at 3-6 and an injured Dak Prescott out for the season.
