What did Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa say about criticism from the media?

The Dolphins’ star had a lot to say to the media recently but with one clear message: He doesn’t care about the haters, but he won’t forget them.

Even though on more than one occasion this season, the Dolphins have put on an offensive clinic, their credentials have still been questioned and that’s something that the team’s starting quarterback just isn’t having.

Tua Tagovailoa gets detailed for the doubters

This past Wednesday, Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa gave an extensive take on the recent criticism that he and his team have come in for from some corners of the media. The 25-year-old spoke for more than two minutes with members of the press as he explained that while he didn’t let the critique affect him, he would ‘keep receipts’, something that would suggest Miami’s QB doesn’t like what he hears. “I understand that my platform, who I am in this league as a quarterback, makes me polarizing,” Tagovailoa said. “Whether I’m the best. Whether I’m the worst. I could care less. I don’t listen to it.”

Indeed, it’s interesting to note that while Tagovailoa insisted that he doesn’t listen to the chatter, he did admit that he was tracking whatever critiques came his way, before and sarcastically dismissing the narratives he believes are being pushed on himself and the team by some in the media. “I keep receipts. We all have a way of how we do things. But all the narratives about it? Yeah sure. I am only good with Tyreek [Hill] in. You’re right,” Tagovailoa said with a laugh. “That is the only time I am at my best. I’m only good when Jaylen [Waddle]’s in. I could care less about it. Sure. ...If that’s what the narrative needs to be, and we’re able to win games and we’re able to go where we want to go as a team, I am the worst football player if that’s what you want. I don’t care. I really don’t.”

OK, but where are the Dolphins at right now?

Right where they need to be if we’re honest. Following a brutal 30-0 win over the New York Jets last week, the Dolphins are sitting atop the AFC East with a record of 10-4. With that said, they do have two huge games against two other division-leading teams in the form of the Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Ravens before they close out their season with a contest against their division rivals, the Buffalo Bills. This is to say, that with a lineup of games like that, there couldn’t be a better time than here and now to shut the doubters up once and for all.
