What did Skip Bayless say about Tom Brady? What nickname did he give him?

Tom Brady finally retired from playing in the NFL after being a quarterback for 23 years. He was promptly signed to a 10-year, $375 million deal to be the announcer for FOX Sports alongside play-by-play caller Kevin Burkhardt. The big paycheck, which made him the highest-paid announcer in history, was obviously not due to any proof that Brady would actually be a good announcer. It was just due to the fact that he’s Brady, and he’s sure to bring in audiences. Meanwhile, Greg Olsen was demoted.

As it turns out, Brady was a way better quarterback than he is announcer. Of course, he is a rookie and has improved some since Week 1. But you have to wonder how much of being a good announcer is natural talent and how much is learned.

Brady’s first game to announce was the Dallas Cowboys at Cleveland Browns, and he received tons of criticism for that one. He came off as awkward and the main takeaway was that he just stated the obvious. Well, he has gained a few fans since then, but there is one person who thinks Brady remains “Captain Obvious”.

Bayless’ criticism of Brady

Former FOX Sports pundit Skip Bayless has not been impressed with Brady’s commentary so far. As Brady was announcing the Week 5 game between the San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals, Bayless had this to say:

“I’ve been listening to 49ers-Cardinals commentary by Capt. Obvious ... who just talks and talks more and more obvious.”

While some people think Brady has improved since his first week as an announcer, Bayless has remained critical. During his second broadcast between the Cowboys and New Orleans Saints, Bayless compared Brady to CBS Sports commentator Tony Romo.

Bayless recently left his show “Undisputed” on Fox Sports 1 to “pursue other opportunities”, though it’s not yet clear what those opportunities are.
