So the time has come to find out what the outlook is for the Steelers to move on to the postseason.

First of all, how is the situation going in the AFC?

In the American League, the Buffalo Bills established themselves as champions of the East division, while the Kansas City Chiefs did the same and established themselves in the West division.

In the South, things are heating up between the Jacksonville Jaguars (7-8) and the Tennessee Titans (7-9).

The Titans lost the Thursday Night Football game to the Dallas Cowboys (12-4), while the Jaguars will be visiting the Houston Texans (2-12-1) at NRG Stadium on Sunday. But for AFC South division, everything will be defined in the last game in Week 18.

In the North, which is the division of the Steelers, the fight for the title is in dispute between the Cincinnati Bengals (11-4) and the Baltimore Ravens (10-5), both way ahead of the team record of Pittsburgh (7-8).

What do the Steelers need to qualify for the Wild Cards spots?

To clinch the seventh and last place in the AFC, the Steelers face an extremely difficult but not impossible scenario; since they need:

  1. To win their remaining two games, on the road against the Baltimore Ravens and at Acrisure Stadium against the Cleveland Browns;
  2. To see the Miami Dolphins lose both of their games, against the New England Patriots and the New York Jets;
  3. That the Patriots (already with the hypothetical victory against the Dolphins) be defeated in the Week 18 game against the Buffalo Bills;
  4. That the New York Jets be defeated this Sunday (Week 17) at Lumen Field by the Seattle Seahawks;
  5. And finally, since the Jaguars and Titans will meet in Week 18, it doesn’t matter who wins or loses, but the only result that doesn’t suit them is that they tie each other in the last game.

These are the factors in play before the game of the Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Baltimore Ravens this weekend
