What do we know about new lawsuit facing Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson and a ‘pertinent’ video?

The Browns quarterback has again found himself in the spotlight as was the case before, for the wrong reasons. What comes next? we can only wait and watch.

Following a below-par performance in Week 1, the Browns quarterback was already under scrutiny but with recent developments off the field in mind, his performance may be the least of his problems. When added to the controversial history that he’s been at the center of over the past year, it’s not a good look, to say the least.

Deshaun Watson faces another accuser who claims to have video evidence

If things weren’t already complicated for Deshaun Watson, they appear to be on the verge of getting much more so. According to reports this week, the Cleveland Browns quarterback has had a new lawsuit filed against him in Houston. This of course is significant as it comes on the back of 23 other lawsuits that he settled in 2022.

As per Pro Football Talk, attorney Tony Buzbee disclosed that Watson’s latest accuser is set to speak with the NFL and that she would not be alone, explaining, “I intend to make my client available for interview along with two individuals who spoke to her immediately after the assault. I also have video to share that will be pertinent.”

Needless to say, that is a major development if we assume it’s true. Where the NFL itself is concerned, it’s worth noting that the league’s response to the situation has, for the moment, been subdued with a spokesperson stating that there is no intention to put Watson back on the commissioner’s exempt list, while the Browns themselves have indicated that he will continue to start for the team. One can only assume that is subject to change should new evidence become available.

Interestingly, Buzbee did not seem to be optimistic about what comes next, telling ESPN, “I’ve personally never had confidence in the NFL’s disciplinary process but my client has chosen to engage it.” At this point it remains unclear as to what comes next, but should said video prove to be “pertinent” as Buzbee said, it could be a major problem for Deshaun Watson.
