It’s understood that the NFL player was not at home at the time of the terrible accident. Unfortunately, his father was not so lucky and lost his life in the blast that also destroyed his home.

Titans’ Caleb Farley loses father in home blast

There was sad news on Wednesday, as reports indicated that an explosion occurred at a home owned by Tennessee Titans cornerback Caleb Farley. According to Kent Greene, the Director of Fire Services and Emergency Management for Iredell, the blast left one person dead and another injured, while the house itself - located in Mooresville, North Carolina was completely destroyed.

Regarding the person who was killed, the individual was identified as Robert Matthews Farley, Caleb’s father. The 61-year-old was staying at the home at the time of the apparent explosion. As per authorities, Farley’s body was recovered during the of the debris by emergency crews. Additionally, an injured male was reportedly seen leaving the house as emergency services arrived at the scene and was subsequently transported to Atrium Health CMC with non-life-threatening injuries. The identity of the said individual was not released.

What else do we know about the explosion?

As we understand it, the explosion which leveled the house reportedly occurred just before midnight on Tuesday morning. Indeed, authorities explained that the residence has been totally lost, while neighbors stated that they heard a loud explosion and also smelled gas. It is understood that Caleb Farley was observed at the scene speaking with authorities. The property in question was a 6,535-square-foot, natural-gas home that closed on May 31, 2022, for $2.05 million.

Authorities say that the home is a total loss as well as several vehicles. Neighbors in the area were said to have heard a loud explosion and smelled gas. Per Queen City News, Caleb Farley was spotted at the scene with his family on Tuesday morning speaking with authorities. A Virginia Tech, Farley was selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
