What does Dallas Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones think about the Rush/Prescott quarterback situation?

With star quarterback Dak Prescott recovering from surgery for his thumb, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is thinking about his quarterback options.

Jerry Jones confía en que Dak Prescott volverá en un mes

After Dallas Cowboys star quarterback Dak Prescott fractured his thumb in Week 1 of the 2022-23 NFL season, team owner Jerry Jones is now hinting that his replacement, Cooper Rush, could possibly be in a position to take his place.

The Cowboys GM had been very optimistic about Prescott returning to the field quickly after his injury, but now it seems that he is curious to see how a contest between his two QBs would turn out, if Rush continues to deliver as he has been doing.

Jerry Jones’ feeling of deja vu

While talking about how his backup quarterback had been performing since taking over, he likened the development of Rush to what took place years ago, when Prescott took over Tony Romo’s starting position.

Speaking to reporters, Jones seemed thrilled at the thought of having to decide between his two quarterbacks. “Wouldn’t it be something if you had a dilemma as to which way to go?

“You do that if (Rush) gets to 10 wins. Same thing that happened with Prescott (and Tony Romo),” he said.

Jones says that he believes that the Central Michigan alum could win games for the team just as Prescott did when he took the place of Romo. Rush managed to lead the Cowboys to an upset victory over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2, then a win over the New York Giants in Week 3.

If indications prove accurate, Prescott could be back to play in a few weeks. And even though it is highly likely that he will go back to his role as the team’s starter, Rush’s chance to fill his shoes for a few games may have ended up proving that the gap in their talent is not as great as previously supposed.
