Update:

Jason and Travis Kelce have achieved an awful lot in their lives but there’s one rite of passage that they hadn’t got around to doing until surprisingly recently. Both brothers attended the University of Cincinnati before moving on to star in the NFL but neither picked up their diplomas after leaving.

They finally made amends on Thursday night, returning to the univeristy to record a live episoede of their ‘New Hieghts’ podcast. Thousands of fans packed into FIfth Third Area for the show, which included both Jason and Kelce dressing in a graduation gown and cap to take to the stage. Footage taken from the night shows Travis downing a can of beer on stage, seemingly as he is about to collect the long-awaited diploma.

Some criticised his behaviour online, arguing that it was inappropriate at a graduation ceremony. But on Saturday Jason stepped in to clear up the issue and explain that it wasn’t actually a formal graduation, just a ‘bit’ from the podcast live show.

“I know it looks like a graduation from the video, but this was actually at the end of a New Heights Live podcast that we put on to raise money for the University’s NIL,” Jason Kelce said on Twitter. “The university did this to poke fun at my brother and I for never really picking up our diplomas.”

Travis’ Kansas City Chiefs teammate Patrick Mahomes was quick to lend his support to Travis, retweeting Jason’s explanation and helping to spread it a little further. Travis attended the University of Cincinnati from 2008 and 2012 and starred for the school football team, playing alongside his older brother for two years when their university careers overlapped.
