The Green Bay Packers’ red-hot start to the 2025 season has hit another potential roadblock. Tight end Tucker Kraft, one of Jordan Love’s emerging go-to weapons, suffered a knee injury during practice on Thursday, putting his status for Sunday’s matchup against the Cleveland Browns in question.
Kraft’s injury update
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Kraft’s injury is not considered long-term, but the timing raises concern. Late-week practice injuries often limit a player’s chances of suiting up that same weekend, and Kraft will undergo further evaluation before the team makes a final decision.

Kraft has been a breakout star through the first two games, recording six catches for 124 yards and a touchdown in Week 2, and scoring in each of the Packers’ first two contests. With wide receiver Jayden Reed already sidelined, losing Kraft would take away another key piece of Matt LaFleur’s offense heading into a tough matchup against Cleveland’s defense.
Next man up at tight end
If Kraft can’t play, second-year tight end Luke Musgrave is expected to slide into the TE1 role. Musgrave was once projected to be the starter when he and Kraft entered the league together in 2023, but Kraft’s chemistry with Love has since elevated him into the featured role. John FitzPatrick and Ben Sims provide additional depth and special teams contributions, but the offensive spotlight would fall on Musgrave to carry the load.
Fantasy football outlook
For fantasy managers, Kraft’s injury comes at an inopportune time. He’s been one of the hottest tight ends in football to open the season, especially in leagues that reward big plays. If Kraft is sidelined, Musgrave becomes a worthwhile streaming option given his likely volume increase. Deeper league players might also keep an eye on Ben Sims, who could see red-zone work. Still, expectations should be tempered against a strong Browns defense.
