What is former Panthers quarterback Cam Newton’s new job?

The former Panthers star has for quite some time flirted with the idea of a return to the field but with this latest move, it appears that dream is in the past.

Once regarded as one of the NFL’s most dangerous dual-threat quarterbacks, Cam Newton will bring a wealth of experience to his new job with the network and that’s without mentioning the fact that he’s genuinely an entertaining guy. As they say, ‘made for TV.’

Cam Newton to join ESPN’s ‘First Take’

That’s right! According to an announcement from ESPN on Thursday, Cam Newton is set to become the network’s newest personality. It is understood that Newton will be joining the cast of ESPN’s morning show “First Take” which features the likes of Stephen A. Smith, football Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe, and radio personality Chris “Mad Dog” Russo.

What’s more, is that the former NFL MVP will be making his debut this coming Friday when “First Take” airs an episode at Tennessee State University as part of its HBCU fall tour. As one can imagine, Newton is raring to go as he’s now secured an opportunity to be back in touch with the game that made him a household name.

“I’ve always brought passion and energy into everything I do, and that won’t change at ESPN,” Newton said in a statement. “I’m looking forward to the opportunity to share my perspective and go toe-to-toe with the best in the business. Fans can expect the same intensity I brought to the field, along with real talk, bold takes, and good fun.”

Interestingly, this has been coming to a certain extent in that Newton has made no secret of his desire to build a media empire. At present the 35-year-old boasts a following of some 1.5 million subscribers for his YouTube channel and has openly stated his ambition of becoming the most famous athlete to become a YouTuber. Should he be able to get close to that goal it will be quite a departure for a player who spent 10 years with the Carolina Panthers and one with the New England Patriots and has at various times suggested that he would like to play again. Yet, to be fair to Newton he did admit just last month during an episode of his ‘Funky Friday with Cam Newton Podcast’ that his career is over.
