From his record-breaking time in high school, it was clear that the former Pioneers star was going places. As he prepares for life in the NFL, we’re taking a look at just who is Spencer Rattler, and what has he achieved so far.

You may have caught Netflix’s show ‘QB1′, and if you did there is no doubt that you were captivated by Spencer Rattler. Most likely the brightest light in high school football, and without a doubt one of the most sought-after recruits out of college right now. If you didn’t know, Rattler threw more than 11,000 yards during his time with Pinnacle High School. From there, the Arizona native would go on to choose the University of Oklahoma as the place where he would further his career. In his freshman year with the Sooners (2019) Rattler only played in 3 games, where he threw for 81 yards on 11 attempts with a 63.6% completion rate, an average of 7.4 yards per pass, and one touchdown, while receiving no sacks and registering a QB rating of 116.1.

To be honest, 2020 was pretty much a bust for the Redshirts’ new boy, but in the end, he was handed the starting job. How did he do following that moment? In the 11 games that he played, Rattler passed for 3031 yards on 317 attempts with a completion rate of 67.5%, an average of 9.6 yards per pass, and 28 TDs, while also taking 24 sacks, and registering a QB rating of 118.4. On top of that, he also posted 63 runs for a total of 280 yards at an average of 4.4 per rush. This is all to say that it was a good year for both the young signal caller and his team. Indeed, several awards followed including National Freshman of the Year from CBS Sports.

College asked Spencer Rattler tough questions but he answered

It didn’t take long for folks to realize that South Carolina had a gem on their hands. As a senior Rattler appeared in 12 games where he threw for an impressive 2791 yards on 356 attempts with a completion rate of 66% for an average of 7.8 yards per pass. His tally was 16 TDs, while taking 26 sacks, and an overall QB rating of 91.9%. There was also an additional 42 runs for a total of 176 yards at an average of 4.2 per run.
