What is the format of the NFL Pro Bowl flag football game?

With a shift from football to a skills-driven celebration, the Pro Bowl has as its center piece a flag football game between the two conferences.

Succumbing to the pressures of ever-falling audiences, the NFL has decided to roll with the tide and simply remove football entirely from the Pro Bowl.

Well, almost. They have removed all contact football from the agenda, instead shifting the focus to a flag football game.

Out is full contact, out are bone-crunching tackles, and in with, well… the kind of football you play with small kids.

The, erhm, contest will still take place over four quarters, but the field has been shortened to fifty yards. The teams will consist of seven players each rather than the normal eleven. The endzone is still ten yards deep and a touchdown is still worth six points, but the PAT will not include a kick. A team can either go for one point by running a play from five yards out, or two points by running a play from ten yards out.

While the teams are made up of the best that the NFL has to offer, this is meant to be a family-friendly, fun, picnic type day. Flea flickers and laughter will abound and while the result has no bearing on anything other than the players’ wallets, the AFC would like to get retribution for their loss last year.
