What NFL teams play on Black Friday?
For the first time ever, Black Friday Football on Prime will feature the Jets taking on the AFC East-leading Dolphins in an attempt to salvage their season.
The upcoming Thanksgiving weekend will be filled with delicious turkey, food leftovers, and a brand-new NFL broadcast that you can enjoy while munching on a leftover turkey sandwich. This year, the NFL is introducing a new game on Black Friday, a day after the traditional three NFL games played on Thanksgiving Day.
The game on Black Friday will be streamed on Amazon Prime Video. However, unlike Amazon’s usual Thursday Night Football broadcasts that require a Prime membership, the Black Friday game will be accessible to anyone with a free Amazon account.
On Sunday, the Buffalo Bills dismantled New York in their 32-6 loss, while the Dolphins beat the Las Vegas Raiders 20-13. The Jets have benched starter Zach Wilson in favor of Tim Boyle for the Friday game, even sticking him as a third-stringer behind Trevor Siemian.
Analysts predict that the Jets will score around 14.5 to 15 points. Concerns have been raised due to the Jets’ offensive struggles in their previous five games, where they failed to score above the predicted total. However, there has been a significant breakthrough for the team, having ended a 41-possession streak without scoring a touchdown, indicating improvement.
The Jets will face additional challenges as they enter the game on a short week after Thanksgiving. The quarterback situation is also complicated by the absence of Zach Wilson, with Tim Bole stepping in as the third-stringer. Initially poised to be Aaron Rodgers’ heir, Wilson has had an altered trajectory, which has implications for the Jets’ offensive strategy.
On the other hand, the Dolphins have shown their ability to contain opponents, backed by a solid defensive performance in recent weeks. They have held their opponents to low scores, including the Raiders to 13 points, the Patriots to 17, the Panthers to 21, and the Giants to 16, even when facing Daniel Jones at quarterback. Their standout achievement was holding the Chiefs to 21 points, showcasing the Miami defense’s strength.
Experts analyzing the matchup suggest that the Dolphins, with their formidable defense, are in an excellent position to control the game. With a modest total expected for the Jets, Miami is anticipated to stack their defense, focusing on shutting down vital offensive threats.
