What punishment will Jalen Carter receive for spitting on Dak Prescott?
The Cowboys vs Eagles game got off to a shocking start when Philly DT spit on Dallas QB Dak Prescott and got ejected from the game.
Just six seconds into the NFL season opener between the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys, the Eagles saw one of their biggest weapons get himself kicked out of the game. The game had literally just kicked off.
Quarterback Dak Prescott spit towards the ground and Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter came towards him to confront him. Carter then spit directly onto Prescott. That resulted in an Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalty and an immediate ejection.

So what happens next?
Will Jalen Carter be suspended?
Now the NFL is weighing whether to add further punishment to Carter’s offense. According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, Carter’s postgame response will factor heavily; if he isn’t fully contrite, the league could extend his discipline.
“One factor will be, we’re told, the manner in which Carter handles the situation after the game. If he’s anything other than fully contrite, the league may decide to send a message stronger than the de facto one-game suspension Carter received by being sent to the showers without playing a single play,” Florio explained.
“As one source pointed out to PFT, the most talked-about topic of the offseason with clubs and players was ‘respect for the opponent.’ For Carter to display the ultimate disrespect to an opponent before the first game of the season has even really begun, the league may decide that something more than an ejection is needed to send the right message to Carter, and to the rest of the league.”
With “respect for the opponent” being a major offseason emphasis, Carter’s actions on opening night may prompt the NFL to make an example out of him. We’re likely to find out more by Friday.
