What time did the Super Bowl end?
The NFL championship game was one of just two Super Bowls to go to overtime and the Chiefs secured a famous victory at the death.
The Kansas City Chiefs’ victory in Super Bowl LVIII will go down in history.
It was their third championship in five years, confirming the Chiefs’ status as a dynasty. It was quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ third Super Bowl MVP award, putting him second to only Tom Brady in the all-time rankings.
It was also only the second NFL championship game to go to overtime and the longest in-play game in Super Bowl history. The 60-minute game was followed by a 15-minute overtime period and Chiefs fans had to wait until the final seconds for their team to strike the decisive blow.
Super Bowl LVIII lasted a record 74 minutes and 57 seconds of in-play action. It was also the seventh-longest game in NFL history.
The game kicked off shortly after 3:40pm PT (6:40pm ET) and the winning touchdown was thrown at 7:46pm PT (10:46pm ET).

What is the longest Super Bowl of all time?
Sunday’s epic may have broken the record for the most in-play time, but a recent Super Bowl actually lasted longer from start to finish.
Super Bowl XLVII between the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers did not go into overtime, but the game was extended by a bizarre interruption. Early in the third quarter the power went down in the Superdrome, leaving players, officials and supporters stranded in semi-darkness.
The game, later given the nickname ‘The Blackout Bowl’, was suspended for 34 minutes as technicians struggled to get the power back on. The Ravens had held a 22-point lead before the disruption but the 49ers battled back with a streak of 17 unanswered points. Baltimore did, however, hang on to clinch the first championship in franchise history.
With that mid-game delay, Super Bowl XLVII holds the record for the longest Super Bowl from opening kickoff to final whistle: four hours and 14 minutes.
This year’s game may have fallen a few minutes short of that record, but at more than four hours from start to finish it was a marathon for all involved. After the game Mahomes paid tribute to his team’s ability to push through adversity.
“It was a microcosm of our whole season,” Mahomes said in the postmatch. “I’m just proud of the guys that kept believing. And I’m proud of the coaches for calling up those plays that got us some touchdowns there at the end.”
