The Dolphins signed Apple to a one-year deal to replace injured cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who will miss the start of the season with a meniscus problem. Ramsey was injured on Thursday, has already undergone surgery, and is expected to return in December.

The start of the conflict

Hill and Apple clashed during the 2022 playoffs. The Cincinnati Bengals and the Kansas City Chiefs met in the finals of the American Football Conference. The Bengals then celebrated and secured participation in the Super Bowl with a significant contribution from Apple.

He then taunted Hill on social media after the game, where he “allowed” him less than 30 yards in a head-to-head matchup, and the quick-footed receiver has since revealed whenever Apple had an infamous moment on the field.

During the previous season, Hill was especially looking forward to the meeting between the Dolphins and the Bengals, stressing that he couldn’t wait to face Apple. The former Chiefs wide receiver had 10 catches for 160 yards in that game, but the Bengals won 27:15.

Epilog

The former University of West Alabama student didn’t hesitate when he found out he would be sharing a locker room with Apple and sent him a clear message on social media.

Apple has played for various teams including the New York Giants, New Orleans Saints, Carolina Panthers, and Cincinnati Bengals. Throughout his career, he has started in 88 games and achieved 5 interceptions, 51 passes defended, and 335 tackles. Miami has other available players in the cornerback position such as Xavien Howard, Kader Kohou, and Cam Smith.

The upcoming NFL season starts on September 7th and Mike McDaniels’ team will be playing against the Chargers in Los Angeles.
