When was the last time the Chiefs missed the playoffs?
The Kansas City Chiefs have been eliminated from postseason contention after the 16-13 loss to the LA Chargers on Sunday.

All good things must come to an end. For Kansas City Chiefs fans, a ten-year streak of playoff appearances will end this year as the team is eliminated from postseason contention.
The Chiefs have been one of the defining teams of the modern NFL, appearing in seven straight AFC Championship Games under coach Andy Reid and quarterback Andy Reid. This Kansas City team has appeared in five of the last six Super Bowls, winning three, to earn dynasty status in the NFL.

However that changed in 2025 as the Chiefs failed to replicate the performances that have made them three-time champions. Sunday’s 16-13 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers saw Kansas City drop to a 6-8 record on the season, officially ending a streak of 10 consecutive postseason appearances.
The last time that the Chiefs failed to make the postseason was in 2014, Reid’s second year as head coach. That was three years before Mahomes was drafted.
Sunday’s Week 15 fixtures also brought bad news for fans of the Cinciannti Bengals and Minnesota Vikings, who also saw their teams eliminated from playoff contention. The Bengals suffered a chastening 24-0 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, while the Vikings saw their hopes ended by the Chicago Bears’ 31-3 win against the Cleveland Browns.
