JETS

When was the last time the New York Jets finished the season with a winning record?

Once again, the New York Jets' season isn’t looking too promising in 2024 even after they made major changes to try to revamp the team.

The New York Jets brought on quarterback Aaron Rodgers in the 2023 season in a desperate effort to become a winning team again, but that dream was quickly shattered when he ruptured his Achilles tendon during the opening game of the season and had to sit out the rest of it. Instead, the Jets went 7-10 with Zach Wilson, Trevor Siemian and Tim Boyle under center.

But it‘s 2024 now, and Rodgers is back! But...oh, what‘s that? The Jets are at 2-6? I guess Rodgers couldn‘t save the team either. The other changes they‘ve made this season haven’t helped either.

The Jets fired head coach Robert Saleh just five games into the season, with many fans citing Rodgers as part of the reason. Two days later, they replaced Nathaniel Hackett with Todd Downing as the offensive play-caller, with Rodgers saying he agreed with the decision. They later made a trade for Rodgers' former teammate, wide receiver Davante Adams. They lost their first two games with the duo back together and Adams has just seven catches for 84 yards.

In conclusion, none of those moves worked out for them, and the Jets are suffering through yet another losing season.

Sure, buddy.

The Jets' last winning season

It’s been a while since the Jets had a winning season. The last time they finished a season with a winning record was 14 years ago in 2010, with an 11-5 record and a postseason run. They made it to the AFC Championship game that season but lost 24-19 to the Pittsburgh steelers.

Heading into their Thursday Night Football game tonight against the Houston Texans, the Jets will be looking for their first win since Week 3 when they defeated the New England Patriots.

In Week 4, they blew a fourth-quarter lead against the Denver Broncos, losing 10-9 to rookie quarterback Bo Nix. In Week 5, they were defeated by the Minnesota Vikings 23-17 in London. That‘s when Saleh got sacked. In Week 6, they lost at home to the Buffalo Bills on a late field goal. Week 7 saw the Pittsburgh Steelers’ offense destroy them to the tune of 37-15, and in Week 8, they blew another halftime lead, giving the then 1-6 Patriots their revenge with a 25-22 win.

Now, the Jets are at 2-6 and 15th in the AFC, ahead of only the 1-6 Tennessee Titans. Their chances of making the playoffs at this point aren‘t zero, but they are quite low. If it doesn’t happen this season, it looks like this will make year 15 of the Jets’ losing season streak.
