Which NFL team will be featured in the new season of HBO’s ‘Hard Knocks’?

Having established itself as a staple for football fans, many will be happy to know about the coming change to HBO’s hit show, even if not the featured team.

HBO has made an interesting tweak to its hit show. NFL fans have of course grown accustomed to its showcasing of training camp and more recently in-season action as well. This year, however, viewers will be treated to something they haven’t had access to before: The offseason.

HBO introduces offseason access to ‘Hard Knocks’ featuring NY Giants

According to an announcement from the network, the upcoming season of HBO’s hit NFL-focused show will be entitled “Hard Knocks, Offseason with the New York Giants”, which will debut on July 2nd on Max, the network’s streaming service. Though details remain unclear at this time, one has to assume that given the ‘offseason’ tag attached to the show, we will be seeing an in-depth look at the team’s movement during the scouting combine, free agency, and the NFL Draft.

Of course, there could be a number of other things that are covered such as front-office machinations involving the controversial circumstances of head coach Brian Daboll’s hiring, and how it resulted in Brian Flores suing the franchise. Or, perhaps we are treated to the confusion surrounding quarterback Daniel Jones’ four-year, $160 million deal the year before. Whatever the case, what is assured is that we will get a good look - given the Giants’ current position - at a team in the process of building a roster.

To that end, there are some rather pertinent questions that we might be lucky enough to see answered. For example, what happened with the No. 3 overall pick Drake Maye, and why did the franchise pass on three quarterbacks only to settle on wide receiver Malik Nabers who was selected with the No. 6 overall pick? Again, we’ve got no word on how this will all go down, but HBO has hinted at “unprecedented access to the biggest decisions and boldest moves.”

Ultimately, the next installment of HBO’s show looks set to be quite interesting, and even more so when you consider the fact that a little over a decade ago, Giants co-owner John Mara said the team would never be on “Hard Knocks.” Since then the Giants have been on a roller coaster ride that has been punctuated by several eyebrow-raising decisions, not the least of which was the recent decision not to re-sign Saquon Barkley. As we always say, watch this space or in this case, the show.
