Who are the finalists to enter the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2023?

The Finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame were announced on Wednesday with Mike Shanahan, Robert Kraft, and Mike Holmgren amongst the coaches.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced 24 finalists across two different categories on Wednesday for the Class of 2023. The Seniors category and the Coaches/Contributors category each have 12 Finalists.

2023 Pro Football Hall of Fame: Seniors Finalists

Each Finalist played his last game of professional football in 1996 or earlier. There will be a meeting on August 16 amongst the 12-person Seniors Committee to discuss one Finalist and the final vote will send three of the 12 on to the 49-person Selection Committee. Then, they will decide which of the three will be sent to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. (Note: All three could be elected.)

Some notable names from the 12 are four-time Pro Bowler and 1981 NFL MVP, quarterback Ken Anderson and former Green Bay Packers receiver Sterling Sharpe.

2023 Pro Football Hall of Fame: Coach/Contributor Finalists

On August 23, the 12-person Coach/Contributor Committee will meet to discuss the Coach/Contributor Finalists and decide on just one to advance to the Selection Committee.

Some notable names on the list include Mike Holmgren, who won a Super Bowl with Green Bay (as head coach) and two with the 49ers (as assistant coach), Mike Shanahan, who won back-to-back championships with the Broncos (as head coach) and one with the Niners (as assistant coach), and Robert Kraft, long-time owner of the New England Patriots with six Super Bowl wins and 10 appearances since 1994.
