Who are the highest-paid QBs in the NFL after Trevor Lawrence’s extension?

Let’s explore the highest-paid National Football League’s quarterbacks and the contracts that earned them their riches. Who’s leading, and who’s trailing?

After signing a massive contract extension with the Jaguars, former Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence has become one of the highest paid players in NFL history. His five year, $275 million dollar deal, complete with $142 million in guaranteed money and a $37.5 million signing bonus sees Lawrence even in salary with Joe Burrow, despite having never shown a fraction of the success.

He is still miles below the top earner overall, the Kansas City Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes, who has an almost untouchable 10 year deal worth $450 million. But when you look at annual value, this deal sees Lawrence tied for the highest yearly pay in the league. Let’s take a look at the full list of top-earners.

Trevor Lawrence joint-highest-paid quarterback in the NFL

Lawrence agreed to a five-year, $275 million contract that includes $142 million guaranteed. This deal now has him as the joint-highest-paid quarterback in the NFL, together with Bengals superstar Joe Burrow.

When you look at annual average value, they are both bringing in $55 million per year. Just below these two players, you will find Jared Goff, who rakes in $53 million per year from the Detroit Lions. Justin Herbert is paid $52.2 million per year by the Los Angeles Chargers, while Lamar Jackson takes $52 million per year of the Baltimore Ravens’ money. Rounding out the top six is Jalen Hurts, who commands a $51 million per year salary from the Philadelphia Eagles.

The list of the NFL’s top 10 highest-earning quarterbacks

It is interesting to note that the salaries and contracts of NFL players may not correlate with each other. This means that even if Patrick Mahomes at number ten and Josh Allen, who falls just off the list at number eleven, have contracts that are larger than others overall, they do not necessarily have the same guarantees. For example, Deshaun Watson signed a contract with the Browns worth $230 million, but his deal guarantees all of that money. However, let’s get into the list of the highest-paid quarterbacks (QB) in the NFL.

Patrick Mahomes is the only QB on this top 10 list to have won a Super Bowl. Only three others have made it to the big game. Only Mahomes and Burrow have playoff records above .500, and six of the 10 have records below .500.
