As a result of the incident, Sanchez will be replaced by Brady Quinn, another former NFL quarterback who previously played for the Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs. Quinn, who typically covers college football for Fox Sports, will step in alongside play-by-play announcer Chris Myers at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Police statement and Sanchez arrest details
In a statement, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) said: “Mark Sanchez was arrested at the hospital for battery with injury, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle and public intoxication, all of which are misdemeanors. All involved parties have been identified, and no further individuals are being sought by detectives. Sanchez is still in the hospital and has not been booked into the Adult Detention Center.”
The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will decide whether to pursue formal charges. The IMPD added: “An arrest is merely an accusation, and Sanchez should be considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.”
Why was Mark Sanchez arrested in Indianapolis?
Earlier Saturday, the IMPD confirmed it was “investigating a physical disturbance” involving “two adult males” that took place on Oct. 4, 2025, at about 12:30 a.m.
According to Fox59, Sanchez allegedly confronted a 69-year-old truck driver over where the man had parked. The driver reportedly suffered “significant injuries” in the altercation.
Fox59 reported that the truck driver told police he first attempted to defend himself with pepper spray, but when that failed, he used a knife.
