Who is Cooper Rush, Cowboys' starting QB against Texans in Week 11? Career stats, salary, contract...
With Dak Prescott out injured, Cooper Rush is set to continue as the Dallas Cowboys' starting quarterback against the Houston Texans.
Cooper Rush, who is again set to deputize for the injured Dak Prescott when the Dallas Cowboys take on the Houston Texans today, says he and his team-mates have moved on from the disappointment of Week 10’s defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Promoted to starting quarterback in the absence of Prescott, who is out for the season with a torn hamstring, Rush threw for just 45 yards and no touchdowns eight days ago, as the Cowboys lost 34-6 to the Eagles - their fourth straight defeat.
“It’s the NFL,” Rush said this week, per DallasCowboys.com’s Patrik Walker. “You don’t have time to [dwell] on it too much, so we’re kind of focused on Monday night [...]. You flush it. You get 24 hours and you’re on to the Houston Texans.”
Who is Cooper Rush?
Born on November 21, 1993, Rush went undrafted in 2017, having spent his college career with the Central Michigan Chippewas. A month after the Draft, however, he found a home with the Cowboys as a free agent. Aside from a short stint with the New York Giants in 2020, the 30-year-old has been a Dallas player ever since.
Over the course of his NFL career, Rush has played in 31 NFL games, starting seven of them. Overall, he has thrown for 1,831 yards, nine touchdowns and six interceptions, with a passer rating of 79.1.
What is Rush’s contract with the Cowboys?
In terms of his contract, Rush is currently on a two-year Cowboys deal worth $5,000,000. For the 2024 season, his base salary is $2,250,000, with a signing bonus of $1,250,000 and a guaranteed amount of $2,750,000.
His cap hit for 2024 stands at $2,875,000. Rush will become an unrestricted free agent in 2025, giving him the opportunity to explore new possibilities in the NFL.
