The 33-year-old sustained a double injury during the final quarter of the week 14 game at MetLife Stadium as the Saints faced the Giants.

The QB fell awkwardly and had to be taken to the Saints' medical tent and failed to return to the game. During the week he was evaluated for a concussion and may have suffered both a head and arm injury.

Haener drafted in

Josh Haener was drafted by the Saints in 2023 but his start with the team was disrupted as he failed a drug test earlier that summer, testing positive for a banned performance enhancing substance.

Haener was suspended the first six weeks of the 2023-24 season.

In his second campaign with New Orleans, Haener began as the backup quarterback behind Carr. In week 7 against the Denver Broncos, he relieved Spencer Rattler on the final drive of the game, and recorded his first career touchdown on a 12–yard pass to Cedrick Wilson Jr.

After Carr’s injury against the Giants last week, the Saints named Haener their starting quarterback for the game against Washington with the player anxious to improve his NFL passing rate of 79.2%.

Haener is reportedly earning an average annual salary of $1,136,204 with the New Orleans franchise.
