Kenny Clark’s challenge: justify the Cowboys’ Parsons trade

The Cowboys’ blockbuster trade sending Micah Parsons to Green Bay brought back two first-round picks and veteran defensive tackle Kenny Clark. While Parsons’ move transforms the Packers into instant Super Bowl contenders, Dallas now leans on Clark to stabilize its defensive front.

Clark has been in the league since 2016, when the Packers drafted him 27th overall. In the last eight years since, Clark has become a three-time Pro Bowler and long-time anchor of the Packers’ defensive line. He’s tallied 417 tackles and 35 sacks. In 2023, he had his best career season with 7.5 sacks, 44 total tackles and two forced fumbles.

He’s expected to start alongside Osa Odighizuwa, pushing Mazi Smith into a rotation role.

Clark can’t replace Parsons’ elite pass-rushing impact (no one can), but his presence gives Dallas a much-needed interior boost. With two late first-round picks still to come, pressure falls on Clark to prove the trade wasn’t a one-sided win for Green Bay.
