Who is on Aaron Rodgers’ wish list? What are his conditions to play for the New York Jets?

Though he’s now on the verge of leaving Green Bay, it appears that the star quarterback would like to take some of his soon-to-be former teammates with him.

As the Packers’ iconic signal caller gears up for a possible move to New York, it seems he’s wasted no time in stating what his requirements for such a move would be. Indeed, Rodgers has now made it clear to the Jets that there are some players he’d like them to acquire if he’s to become the new man in the middle.

Aaron Rodgers outlines “wish list”

According to reports, Green Bay Packers quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, has given the New York Jets a “wish list” of wide receivers ahead of his possible move to the team. While that in itself isn’t out of the ordinary for high-profile QBs, what’s interesting is that three of the players on the list are current Packers players. Randall Cobb, Allen Lazard and Marcedes Lewis are all players who know the 39-year-old all to well, having played alongside him. Rounding out the list is free agent Odell Beckham Jr.

As of Tuesday, reports indicated that the Jets were doing their best to sign Lazard, though it’s got to be said so too was another team. Where Cobb is concerned, the Jets have also been linked. Incidentally, Lazard was Rodgers’ leading target in 2022, with a team leading 60 receptions to go with 788 receiving yards. Cobb on the other hand, is essentially a veteran who has spent 10 seasons in Green Bay. In his last campaign, he caught 34 passes to the tune 417 yards. Regarding Lewis, it should be noted that he hasn’t featured heavily in Green Bay, but he has been Rodgers’ teammate since 2018.

Aaron Rodgers and Odell Beckham Jr.?

If you didn’t know, it was just last week that the prolific wide out - now a free agent - held a private workout in front of 11 NFL teams. As things stand, Beckham is seeking to prove that his ACL which saw him sidelined for the entire 2022 season, is no longer a problem. It goes without saying that should that be the case, a Beckham/Rodgers combination could be lethal.

What are the Jets working with?

One thing that should be said is that despite the stars that Rodgers would like to see join him in New York, the Jets already have some interesting options out wide. Firstly, there is Garrett Wilson who was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2022. Then, we’ve got Corey Davis who has struggled with injuries, but when he’s been healthy, he’s been impressive. Lastly, there is Elijah Moore, a second-round pick who has been on the roster for two years now.

Ultimately, Rodgers is not yet a Jets player. To that end, as much as the speculation about who could join him in New York is interesting, it’s nothing more than speculation at the moment. What we do know is that the franchise held meetings with the two-time MVP last week, but nothing was finalized. At this point we can continue to keep an eye on the situation as Rodgers is yet to decide on whether he’ll be making the move to the ‘Big Apple.’ Should he do so, it will definitely be interesting to see whether it’s the result of the team granting him his wishes.
