Who is playing during the Cowboys' Thanksgiving Day game halftime show?

The NFC East’s Cowboys and Giants will face off on Thanksgiving Day, and this year’s halftime performer, like last year’s, is a country music singer.

Thanksgiving is coming up in just two weeks, and with that, we’ll have the annual Thanksgiving Day football games, featuring the Dallas Cowboys hosting the New York Giants in the 4:30 p.m. slot.

The Cowboys' Thanksgiving Day game has become the most-watched regular season game of the year with last year’s game drawing 42 million viewers. Of course, this year, that could definitely change. While the tradition of football and Thanksgiving is certain to keep the game on in several households (even if it is on in the background on mute), the Cowboys are at 3-6 and the Giant at 2-8, with both predicted to lose their upcoming games until then.

Dallas is the team that typically brings the attention, but since their starting quarterback Dak Prescott is out for the season, they’re playing their worst football in years, and are dealing with other injuries throughout the roster, people are a lot less enthused about watching them this year.

So then, let’s shift our focus to halftime.

Cowboys Thanksgiving Day halftime performer

Last year, Dolly Parton was the halftime performer for the Cowboys' Thanksgiving Day game against the Commanders. This year, it’s another country music artist, Lainey Wilson, who will perform on Thanksgiving on November 28 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas

Wilson released her album Whirlwind in August of this year and will play songs from that album live, as well as some of her other famous classics. She’ll also have a surprise special guest performance joining her on stage.

It’s an honor to follow in the footsteps of legendary performers like my friend Dolly Parton, The Jonas Brothers, and Reba, of course, to kick off The Salvation Army’s iconic Red Kettle Campaign,” said Wilson. “Join me at the Red Kettle this Christmas season because we truly can do more good when we come together to serve those in need in our communities.”

The Red Kettle Campaign is an annual fundraiser run by the Salvation Army to raise money for those in need and the Thanksgiving Day game marks the official start of the campaign.

“The Dallas Cowboys and the Gene and Jerry Jones Family Foundation have been devoted partners of The Salvation Army for nearly 30 years in our shared mission to take care of the most vulnerable in our communities,” Commissioner Kenneth G. Hodder, national commander of The Salvation Army in the United States, wrote in a statement. “And a performance by such a celebrated artist as Lainey Wilson is the most wonderful way to kick off this important season of giving.”
