Update:

Generald Wilson, a singer with ample experience of major U.S. sports events, will perform the national anthem ahead of today’s NFL playoffs clash between the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers.

A familiar face in Seattle

A retired Navy officer, Wilson has sung “The Star-Spangled Banner” at numerous other Seahawks games in the past. In November 2024, for example, he performed at Lumen Field ahead of Seattle’s Week 12 game against the Arizona Cardinals:

Wilson will appear in Seattle just two days after performing in Dallas, at the NBA regular-season game between the Mavericks and the Utah Jazz:

Meanwhile, the Seahawks have announced that tonight’s halftime show will star the Grammy-winning rapper Lil Jon.

49ers vs Seahawks: time, how to watch

In the NFL’s Divisional Round, the No.1-seeded Seahawks host the 49ers, the NFC’s sixth seed, at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT today, Saturday, Jan. 17.

In the U.S., the game will air nationally on Fox. Your streaming options include the online platform fubo, which offers a free trial. You can also follow live-text coverage of San Francisco vs Seattle right here at AS USA.

Can Seattle end decade-long NFC wait?

The Seahawks are bidding to reach the NFC Championship Game for the first time since 2014, having won their only Super Bowl title a year previously.

The 49ers, meanwhile, are chasing their fourth NFC Championship appearance in five years - but haven’t won the NFL title since back in 1994.

The winners of today’s clash at Lumen Field will face the Los Angeles Rams or the Chicago Bears in the conference title decider, on Sunday, Jan. 25.
