NFL is back and we hit the ground running as Amazon Prime wades into the fray as they bring us Thursday Night Football week 3 action from San Francisco’s Levi’s Stadium where the New York Giants will face the 49ers.

Coming off a comeback win over the Cardinals, the Giants are hopeful that they can top the wave that the 49ers are currently riding, on a 12 regular season game winning streak.

Saquon Barkley may be able to play after nursing an ankle injury all week, and if so that could provide New York a huge edge.

Giants vs 49ers: prediction

This is perhaps a meeting of two perfect storms in this clash. The 49ers, while not perfect by any stretch, are riding a solid wave behind Brock Purdy who has led their prolific offense to 30 or more points in all but one of his outings.

At the same time, the Giants are almost certainly going to be without Saquon Barkley. It is true that they refuse to rule him out, but even if he suits up, the chance of him providing the heavy lifting for this offense is limited.

Bearing these two in mind it becomes a case of how much can the two defenses stop. The 49ers are vulnerable in the secondary and have had some big numbers put up against them, but the Giants are going to have to step up in a big way to dial down the yards that the 49ers can rack up.

Prediction: New York Giants 21-32 San Francisco 49ers
