Who should I start in Fantasy Football? NFL Week 7 roster recommendations by position

NFL Week 7 has just two teams on bye, but there will still be fantasy lineup moves to make with big players out from those two and new injuries from Week 6.

It’s hard to believe we’re already heading into Week 7 of the NFL. But if you (like me) still have some catching up to do in your fantasy league, don’t fret - there’s still time to make some changes and get back on track (or at least that’s what I’m telling myself). The NFL games haven’t even kicked off yet and we already had some juicy NFL action in Week 7. This week began with Davante Adams getting traded to the New York Jets and Amari Cooper being traded to the Buffalo Bills. Those moves will no doubt have an impact on fantasy and the players around them.

NFL teams on bye week in Week 7: Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears

RELATED: List of every NFL team’s bye week

With just two teams on bye this week, we can relax a little bit, but with those two sitting out, it means no CeeDee Lamb and no D’Andre Swift, which are still significant losses. And as always, we have injuries to take int consideration as well. Unfortunately, Week 6 was full of significant injuries although thankfully none of them (with the exception of Detroit Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson) appear to be season-ending.

Notable Week 7 injuries:

  • Anthony Richardson, QB - Indianapolis Colts
Richardson looks on track to return from a hip/oblique injury in Week 7 against the Miami Dolphins. That may be something to consider if you have either of his WRs, Josh Downs or Michael Pittman Jr., as Richardson’s accuracy has been questionable.
  • Derek Carr, QB - New Orleans Saints
Carr suffered an oblique injury in Week 5 and is not likely to return until Week 8 at the earliest. Spencer Rattler is set to fill in for him again.
  • Jordan Mason, RB - San Francisco 49ers
After suffering a mid AC sprain on Thursday, Mason had a few extra days to recover and is considered “day-to-day”. Fantasy managers should monitor the practice reports.
  • Brian Robinson Jr., RB - Washington Commanders
Robinson missed Week 6 while dealing with a knee injury, but is expected to return for their Week 7 game against the Carolina Panthers, which is an extremely favorable matchup for him. Fantasy managers should monitor the practice reports this week.
  • Travis Etienne Jr., RB - Jacksonville Jaguars
Etienne left the Week 6 game with a hamstring injury and is now considered “week-to-week” and unlikely to play in Week 7. Tank Bigsby should see the majority of wotk while he’s out.
  • Jerome Ford, RB - Cleveland Browns
Ford injured his hamstring during their Week 6 game and is unlikely to play in Week 7. Nick Chubb should make his return and will be supported by fellow RB D’Onta Foreman in Ford’s absence.
  • Devin Singletary, RB - New York Giants
Singletary could make his return from a groin injury this week, but will potentially share touches with Tyrone Tracy.
  • Rhamondre Stevenson, RB - New England Patriots
Stevenson could potentially make his return from a foot injury in Week 7 against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London, but managers should monitor his situation if he travels with the team.
  • Gus Edwards, RB - Los Angeles Chargers
Edwards was put on IR last week to miss at least four games with an ankle injury. With him on the sidelines J.K. Dobbins will see the majority of the work.
  • Chris Olave, WR - New Orleans saints
Olave suffered a concussion during their Week 6 game. With a Thursday game against the Denver Broncos this week, his chances of playing don’t look good.
  • Rashid Shaheed, WR - New Orleans Saints
Olave is out, but that’s not going to help Shaheed’s fantasy managers this week, as he’s dealing with a knee injury. He still has to undergo testing, but it’s not sounding hopeful. With both WRs out, it’s rookie Bub Means who will be the Saints’ top option.
  • Marvin Harrison Jr., WR - Arizona Cardinals
Harrison suffered a concussion during last week’s game and although they have a Monday game, giving him an extra day to recover, he’s unlikely to play in Week 7′s game against the Los Angeles Chargers, leaving TE Trey McBride and WR Michael Wilson as the top targets for Kyler Murray.
  • Dontayvion Wicks, WR - Green Bay Packers
Wicks left last week’s game with a shoulder injury and is currently listed as “week-to-week” and expected to undergo an MRI to learn more abut the injury. If he misses more time, expect Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson to see more reps.
  • Jakobi Meyers, WR - Las Vegas Raiders
Meyers missed Week 6′s game with an ankle injury but could potentially return for Week 7. With Davante Adams gone off to the Jets, Meyers becomes the Raiders’ WR1. If he misses Week 7, it’s Tre Tucker and DJ Turner behind him.

Fantasy Football roster recommendations: NFL Week 7

Quarterbacks

  • Sam Darnold, Minnesota Vikings
  • Geno Smith, Seattle Seahawks
  • Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers

In three of his last four games, Sam Darnold has scored 19+ fantasy points. With the Lions down their best defender and a 27th-ranked pass defense, Darnold has a favorable matchup. Geno Smith has a favorable matchup as well against the Atlanta Falcons, who have only pressured quarterbacks on 23% of their dropbacks, and Smith has a 61.7% success rate when not pressured, according to Next Gen Stats. Jordan Love has been averaging 20+ points in his four starts this season. He’s up against a Texans defense that has allowed three QBs to beat them for more than 19 points.

Running Backs

  • Chuba Hubbard, Carolina Panthers
  • Tank Bigsby, Jacksonville Jaguars
  • J.K. Dobbins, Los Angeles Chargers

With Andy Dalton under center for the Panthers, the offense as a whole has improved and Chuba Hubbard has rushed for 90+ yards and two touchdowns in two of his last three games. He’s up against a Commanders defense that has allowed 5.3 rushing yards to RBs this season and given up 14+ fantasy points to five different RBs. With Travis Etienne dealing with an injury, Tank Bigsby looks to play another big role for the Jaguars when they face the New England Patriots, whose defense has allowed seven rushing TDs to RBs this season. With Gus Edwards on IR, J.K. Dobbins is the Chargers’ clear RB1 and after his performance last week, he should be on your lineup for their matchup against the Arizona Cardinals, whose defense allowed 15+ fantasy points to five different RBs.

Wide Receivers

  • Diontae Johnson, Carolina Panthers
  • Jameson Williams, Detroit Lions
  • Tank Dell, Houston Texans

For the same reasons that Hubbard is a good start against the Commanders’ defense, so is Diontae Johnson. Washington has allowed 10 touchdowns through the air to opposing WRs, tied for the most in the league. Not to mention, Johnson has scored 19+ fantasy points in three of his last four games. Jameson Williams has managed to put up big points despite low targets, averaging an NFL-high 22.8 yards per reception. The Lions matchup with the Vikings is expected to be a high-scoring affair. Texans’ WR Tank Dell has a favorable matchup against the Packers’ pass defense ranked 25th in the league and with Nico Collins out, Dell looks to continue playing a major role in the offense.

Tight Ends

  • Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons
  • Cade Otton, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  • Zach Ertz, Washington Commanders

Honestly, none of these tight ends are to be fully trusted, but given their Week 7 matchups, we’ll consider them worth the risk. Kyle Pitts is coming off of two straight double-digit wins and the Seahawks’ defense is allowing 9+ points to TEs. Cade Otton has scored 9+ points in three of his last four games and is seeing more targets from Baker Mayfield. He’s up against the Ravens in Week 7, whose defense has allowed the fifth-most fantasy points per game to TEs this season. Zach Ertz is not scoring high lately, but he’s going against the Panthers this week, and pretty much any offensive player vs the Panthers defense is a good idea.
