In Thursday night’s 34-20 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow suffered what appeared to be a non-contact wrist injury and was subsequently replaced.

On Friday, the Bengals head coach Zac Taylor revealed Burrow suffered a torn ligament in his wrist and he will now miss the remainder of the season. After the game, Burrow said he “felt a pop” after landing on his wrist during the play right before after he was under pressure from Ravens pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney.

Replacing Burrow

Jake Browning came in for Burrow on Thursday and is now the team’s starting quarterback. “We got a lot of great players on this team and so we’re excited to see this team really band together for these last seven weeks and find a way (to win),” Taylor said. “So we’re excited for that opportunity but obviously disappointed for Joe.”

Started with Minnesota Vikings

Browning’s career began in 2019 when the Minnesota Vikings signed him as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Washington.

The 27-year-old joined the Bengals in 2021 - signing to their practice squad. He later signed a reserve/future contract in February 2022, was waived six months later in August 2022, signed to the practice squad the next day, and then signed a reserve/future contract in January 2023.
