Trevon Diggs was one of the players who provided joy to fans of the Dallas Cowboys during the 2021 season of the NFL, by leading the league in interceptions with 11, and defensive touchdowns with two.

However, his performance in training camp has been called poor based on videos posted by Jon Machota, a reporter for The Athletic in charge of covering the Cowboys, in which different wide receivers like CeeDee Lamb or Simi Fehoko outplayed Diggs with apparent ease in deep trajectories.

Fehoko outruns Diggs

After the harsh criticism he received for not being able to defend against Fehoko, a player on the practice squad, the All-Pro cornerback deleted his Twitter account @TrevonDiggs. He thus can no longer read what his critics are have to say. According to Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News, Diggs and cornerbacks coach Al Harris got into an argument after Fehoko’s play.

Diggs in 2021

It has been said that Diggs is on his way to becoming the best cornerback in the NFL, and with good reason. In addition to leading the league in interceptions and defensive touchdowns, he recorded 52 tackles and 21 pass deflections in 16 regular-season games in 2021. He also received his first invitation to the Pro Bowl and was named to the NFL All-Pro First Team.

Diggs was sought by opposing quarterbacks on 103 passes and the cornerback allowed 54 receptions for 907 yards. Of the total yardage, 411 were earned after receiving.

One of the issues he struggled with was making tackles, as he missed 10 times; 16 percent of his defensive chances. However, one of the strong points during 2021 was that he only allowed four goals.
