Why does Aaron Rodgers say he no longer fears death?

Aaron Rodgers says he no longer fears death because after he took ayahuasca, he “saw the other side”. The Green Bay Packers quarterback has had a lot of positive things to say about the psychedelic, including contributing it to his success as a player and winning back-to-back MVP awards in 2020 and 2021. His first brush with the plant-based psychedelic was in 2020 on a trip to South America. He described it as a “magical experience”.

What did Aaron Rodgers mean by “the other side”?

On the Pat McAfee show, Rodgers explained that when he was 16 years old, and there were talks of the world ending with Y2K, he feared that he would never meet a woman and fall in love or play in the NFL before dying. But he’s said that since taking hallucinogenic substances like ayahuasca and psilocybin, he no longer fears death or has the “idea of needing to accomplish things” before.

“I think when you’ve seen the other side, it makes the idea of death more of a passage and less of an ending,” said Rodgers.

When McAfee asked Rodgers what he meant by “the other side”, Rodgers said “the veil between the seen world and the unseen world”, not necessarily life and death.

It’s not too shocking to hear Rodgers make comments like this, considering his other conspiracy theories and previous comments on psychedelics making him a better football player.

It may be time for either another dose or retirement, as the 39-year-old has not been having a great season so far. As we head into Week 15 of the NFL season, the Packers are 5-8 and sitting at third in the NFC North behind the Detroit Lions. Rodgers has thrown for 2,864 yards with 22 touchdown passes and nine interceptions.

Rodgers and the Packers will face the Rams in Week 15 on Monday Night Football as they look to keep their playoff hopes alive.
