Why is former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown going to visit Las Vegas Raiders DE Chandler Jones?
You can say what you want about the former Steelers star, but at the very least he appears to have his heart in the right place when it comes to his friends.
If one thing is clear about the situation between Chandler Jones and the Las Vegas Raiders, it’s that all is not well. From a series of concerning posts on social media to viral video clips and even accusations that the team sent a crisis response to his house, something is definitely up. There is, however, a positive in all of this which is to say Jones appears to have help on the way.
Antonio Brown plans to help Chandler Jones
If you caught our previous report about Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Chandler Jones, then you will know that he’s been away from the team since early September after he was placed on the non-football illness list. Between then and now, we’ve seen Jones post a series of disturbing messages on social media, some of which were directed at the Raiders who he went on to say he no longer wants to play for. More recently, things have got even worse, with Jones posting a clip of himself crying. It has since gone viral. Then, on Thursday, the 33-year-old stated in a post that he would be “off social media for a while”, however, he has continued to post.
This brings us to former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown, who responded to Jones’ initial message about taking a break from social media, by stating in a post that he intends to travel to Las Vegas to check in on Jones. You can see the message below:
Interestingly, Jones responded to Brown’s stated intentions by joking that they should host a “CTE podcast.” You can take that how you want. Further to his ‘joke’, Brown reaffirmed the idea that he would be visiting Jones soon and would attempt to repair the rift that now exists between Jones and the team. Incidentally, Brown was actually a member of the Raiders roster back in 2019, but never actually played a game for the team as he was released by the team in early September of that year after being acquired in March. As for the Raiders, it’s worth noting that they have remained tight-lipped on Jones’ situation, with head coach Josh McDaniels saying, “It’s a personal situation and a private matter. We have dealt with it and I am not going to talk about it,” McDaniels said earlier this month.
