Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady took a break of at least 10 days from Tampa Bay’s training camp this week, and isn’t starting for his team anytime soon.

According to Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles, Brady’s hiatus had been scheduled in advance, and the only information given for Brady’s leave of absence is “personal reasons.”

For the 45-year-old star QB, being absent during a few practices and the first few games is completely out of character, naturally sparking a great deal of speculation as to what the personal reasons may be.

Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports that Brady’s absence “has nothing to do with Brady’s or his family members’ health.” One could safely assume that Brady’s absence is more about work-life balance than anything serious. Not to forget that the 45-year-old had already retired from the NFL in February in an effort to spend more time with his family, only to un-retire 40 days later.

When is Brady back from his hiatus?

The seven-time Super Bowl champion is set to return after the Aug. 20 preseason game against the Tennessee Titans, with three weeks to prepare for the regular-season opener. His initial game starting for Tampa Bay should be on Sept. 11 against the Dallas Cowboys.
