Why isn’t AJ Brown playing for the Eagles against the Falcons? Injury update

The Philadelphia Eagles started the 2024 NFL season with a thrilling 34-29 victory over the Green Bay Packers. The Eagles will look to build on that opening day win when they take on the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football, but they will be without one of the stars of last weekend’s triumph.

Wide receiver AJ Brown is out for the Eagles after being added to the team’s injury report on Friday. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni revealed that Brown had complained that his hamstring had “got a little tight” in practice last week.

Brown’s absence will be a big loss for Philadelphia after a starring performance in the opening day win. The 27-year-old has been a key offensive piece since joining from the Tennessee Titans in 2022 and he recorded 119 yards and a touchdown from five receptions against the Packers.

Without Brown, Sirianni may turn to Jahan Dotsun to be the target of many of the team’s plays. Dotson only joined from the Washington Commanders in late August and has had little experience playing for the Eagles, playing 32 snaps for zero receptions against the Packers last weekend.

“He has worked his butt off. He’s obviously a very talented player,” head coach Sirianni said on Friday. “We’ll see how that goes. But I know that the guys are ready when they need to be, when they’re called upon.”

Despite Dotsun’s potential the Eagles will be desperate to get AJ Brown back in the team after missing Monday’s game. Sirianni has not yet given specifics about the extent of his injury but the early signs suggest that AJ Brown will be back in contention after the Eagles - Falcons clash. Next weekend the Philadelphia Eagles travel to the New Orleans Saints for their third games of the season.
