Why isn't Dalton Kincaid playing for the Bills against the 49ers in week 13? When will he be back?
Tight end Kincaid will miss a second consecutive game when the Bills host the Niners at Highmark Stadium on Sunday.
The Buffalo Bills head into Sunday’s week 13 game against the San Francisco 49ers as one of the NFL’s most in-form teams, although they will have to overcome the absence of Dalton Kincaid if they are to continue their recent winning streak.
Tight end Kincaid, a first-round draft pick in 2023, was ruled out of the weekend contest at Highmark Stadium by Bills head coach Sean McDermott, who addressed the media on Friday. The 25-year-old hasn’t played since the week 10 win against the Indianapolis Colts on November 10 because of a knee injury and will now miss a second consecutive game (the Bills had a bye in week 12).
When will Dalton Kincaid return for the Bills?
McDermott doesn’t appear to overly worried about Kincaid’s injury, which suggests there is a chance he could come into contention to face the Los Angeles Rams on week 14 (Sunday, December 8). The fact that he hasn’t been placed on injured reserve supports the theory he will be back in action before too much longer.
“It’s really in our trainers’ hands, and they update me day-to-day here,” McDermott said of the tight end’s fitness. “So I think we’re moving in the right direction, I feel like we are. It’s taking some time to get there, but we’ll just see how the next couple days unfold.”
Dawson Knox will continue in a starting role against the Niners, with Quintin Morris acting as his backup.
Bills' winning streak
The Bills are currently on a six-game winning run and have won all five of their outings at Highmark Stadium so far this season, helping them to a 9-2 record. The 49ers, beaten in last year’s Super Bowl, have their work cut out to reach the playoffs this time around. The Californians are 5-6 and must make up ground in the final few weeks of the regular season.
They will, however, be boosted by the return of quarterback Brock Purdy, who missed the heavy 38-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers with a shoulder injury.
