Wide receiver Deebo Samuel won’t be involved in the San Francisco 49ers’ Week 3 clash with the Los Angeles Rams today, having been ruled out with a calf strain.

How long will Samuel be out for?

In a call with reporters on Monday, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed that Samuel had picked up the injury in the previous day’s defeat to the Minnesota Vikings. “He’ll probably miss a couple of weeks,” Shanahan said, per NBC.

So far in 2024, Samuel’s sixth season with the 49ers, the 28-year-old has received for 164 yards, 13 receptions and no touchdowns, and has run for 13 rushing yards and one touchdown.

Who else is on the 49ers’ injury report?

San Francisco were already without another key player, running-back Christian McCaffrey, who is on the team’s injured reserve list as he recovers from Achilles tendinitis.

And later in the week, the 49ers were dealt a further blow when it emerged that star tight end George Kittle will also miss the Rams game with a hamstring issue, having been unable to practice since Wednesday.

Speaking on Monday, Shanahan said: “When you lose real good players it’s always tough, but it happens all over the league, and it’s a huge part of this league and a huge part of this game. You’ve got to deal with it.”

Defensive end Nick Bosa (rib) and cornerback Charvarius Ward (hamstring, knee) are both questionable for this weekend’s match-up at SoFi Stadium.
