Why isn’t Ja’Marr Chase playing for the Bengals against the Steelers?

The loss of Joe Burrow dealt the Cincinnati Bengals 2023 season a blow, but it has not been fatal to their campaign. Limping, to be sure, but still in the race, the Bengals are fighting for a playoff spot in the AFC North.

They face the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday in what will be a tough matchup, and now they do so without their biggest playmaker.

Ja’Marr Chase suffered a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder during Cincinnati’s overtime win over the Minnesota Vikings in week 15. He had been listed as day-to-day but has not practiced at all this week.

Chase is leading the team with 93 receptions for 1,156 yards and seven touchdowns this season. Just 19 receptions short of T.J. Houshmandzadeh’s 2007 franchise record of 112, Chase will have to wait another week to see if he can close on that mark.
