The Pittsburgh Steelers sit top of the AFC North with a 3-1 record and will be aiming to bounce back after last week’s 27-24 loss to Indiana, the team’s first defeat of the new season.

The Cowboys visit Acrisure Stadium this evening and despite having a mounting injury list Mike Tomlin’s team head into the game as favorites. The Cowboys are 2-2, having lost the first two games of the season and won the last two. They sit second in the AFC South.

Pittsburgh have 11 players listed on their injury report - three of them will play no part in this evening’s game and two other are questionable.

Outside linebacker Alex Highsmith picked up a groin injury in the Week 3 win against the Los Angeles Chargers and remains out. Tight end MyCole Pruitt suffered a knee injury in the 13-6 win over the Broncos - his second game with the Steelers. He too is ruled out alongside Cordarrelle Patterson who is nursing an ankle injury.

Steelers waiting on Warren

Jaylen Warren is the big absentee. He picked up a Grade 1 sprain to the posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee against the Chargers in Week 3 which kept him from participating in practice and sat the next game against the Colts. Warren has 54 yards on the ground after 14 carries and has five catches for 28 yards (9.3 ypg) so far this season.

As for the rest of the Steelers walking wounded, Russell Wilson has been trying to shake off a calf injury but But edge rusher Jeremiah Moon was activated after spending four weeks on IR with an ankle problem.

There have been no further details on the status of five players: Nick Herbig (ankle), Isaac Seumalo (pectoral), Keeanu Benton (ankle), Cameron Heyward (resting) and Larry Ogunjobi (groin).

Head coach Mike Tomlin said last week that due to the injuries there would be opportunities for younger players who are coming up through the ranks. “We’ve got a lot of new and young guys playing in the offensive line - obviously due to the injury circumstance. I really like the look in their eye and the feel within the collective as we face the adversity we faced, trying to work our way back into that football game. There’s a lot of lessons to learn and we better apply them because we’ve a got a big game coming up this week”.

The 2024 NFL regular season game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Dallas Cowboys is scheduled to be played on Sunday 6 October 2024 at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with the game kicking off at 8:20 p.m. ET.
